About Us

I grew up a Monster-Obsessed kid, renting Godzilla videos, stay up past bedtime to watch Ray Harryhausen Marathons on TNT.  As I grew older Fangoria was my gateway to the more "gruesome" stuff. I became a teenager during the DVD boom of the late 90s-early 2000s when a plethora of foreign and domestic horror films were finally being restored and given their due.

I'm Italian American on my Father's side. At 15 years old I'm not sure if I had ever really given any thought to my Italian heritage. I didn't speak the language and I've never been to Italy. But the phantasmagorical images of Bava, Fulci and Argento spoke to me and I was proud to claim them as my fellow countrymen.

The Monster kid grew up, got married and had two sons.

Now there is no greater joy than sharing my passion for genre cinema with them, whether we're seeing Godzilla 1985 at the Mahoning Drive-in or watching Tobe Hooper's Invaders from Mars on Svengoolie, these are cherished memories.

My boys are Colombian on their mother's side. I had heard of Jairo Pinilla years ago, that he was Colombia's first genre auteur but at the time it was nearly impossible to see his films. Still I realized his importance within the context of the country's cinematic identity and when the opportunity arose to preserve that legacy for my sons the way Anchor Bay and other companies had done for Italian genre films, I jumped at it. That is why I created Petroglyph Media.

While this inaugural release represents a labor of love, 3 years in the making, I hope it is but the first in a long line of new discoveries for jaded cinema lovers. Where we go from here is up to the support of you, the audience.
